'Gracias!' Angara thanks Spanish gov't for helping PH


Senator Juan Edgardo Angara thanked on Saturday, July 9 the Spanish government for its assistsnce to the Philippines' response to the Covid-19 pandemic and for its support to various programs and projects that have benefitted the Filipino people over the years.

Angara, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the statement after Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines Jorge Moragas Sanchez led the celebration of the 20th Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day and the 123rd Anniversary of the historic Siege of Baler in Baler, Aurora. 

Angara, Baler Mayor Rhett Ronan Angara, Aurora Rep. Rommel Angara and Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Director Carolina Uy witnessed the laying of the wreath at the Baler Church. 

National Historical Commission of the Philippines Chairman Rene Escalante and Col. Joseph Norwin Pasamonte, the Brigade Commander 703rd Agila also attended the celebration.

Ambassador Moragas Sanchez noted the significance of the event, which highlights the linkages, cultural heritage, and real friendship between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Spain. 

DOT Secretary Cristina Garcia-Frasco was not able to attend the event because she reportedly has colds and sore throat as of last night.
