Taguig’s active Covid-19 cases rise to 376


Taguig City’s active Covid-19 cases increased to 376, based on data from the Department of Health (DOH).

According to the DOH’s Covid-19 Tracker, Taguig added 82 new cases on July 7 to bring the total active cases to 376, up from 328 on July 6.

Taguig City has 84,532 confirmed cases, 83,615 recoveries, and 541 deaths.

The DOH data showed that Taguig added 220 new cases from June 30 to July 6, and 229 new cases from June 23 to June 29.

Local government units and the DOH have different data on Covid-19 cases.

The DOH reported that as of July 7, the National Capital Region (NCR) added 849 new cases to bring the total active cases to 5,119.

On July 8, the DOH stated that based on the latest genome sequencing conducted from June 29 to July 4, the Philippines detected 167 cases of Omicron subvariants. There are seven BA.4 cases, 140 BA.5 and 20 BA.2.12.1

Of the 140 BA.5 cases, four are in isolation, 129 were asymptomatic and have recovered, and seven are being verified.

A total of 99 of the BA.5 cases are from Region VI, 21 from the NCR, seven from Region IV-A, five from Region I, and one each in Regions III, V, VII, VIII, X, IV-B, and CAR. One case is a Returning Overseas Filipino (ROF).

To date, the total number of BA.5 cases detected in the Philippines has reached 233.
