President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. hopes that Filipinos will "break the chains of divisiveness" towards achieving "shared goals" as the country observes the Eid’l Adha or Feast of the Sacrifice.
In his message on Friday, July 8, the Chief Executive said that the observance of Eid'l Adha "reminds us that, with deep faith and loyalty to our virtues, we can take risks for hefty costs, even if it means losing those whom we love and letting go of the many things that matters to us."
"As we commemorate how Ibrahim offered his son in obedience of Allah, let us likewise believe that in entrusting ourselves and surrendering our worries to the Supreme Authority, all our hearts' desires for the greater good will be heard and granted," Marcos said.
"As we join hands towards achieving our shared goals, I hope that we will transcend our differences, break the chains of divisiveness, and emerge strong and united as one nation," he added.
The President also said that the "solemn narrative" that "punctuates" the occasion signifies that at the onset of the new administration, "we must prepare ourselves to go beyond our comfort zones."
He said that the journey ahead will not be easy. So he enjoined the citizenry to "fight for what is right and predicate our every action on our love for our fellowmen and women."
He also encouraged the people to offer themselves for the sake of others and take to heart the lessons learned today.
Marcos wished the Muslim communities to have a solemn and meaningful observance of the Eid'l Adha.

Malacañang has declared July 9, 2022, a regular holiday in the entire country in observance of the Feast of Sacrifice.
