Tirso Cruz III on FDCP appointment

Seasoned actor Tirso Cruz III couldn't be more grateful being appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as chairperson and chief executive of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

In an interview with "TV Patrol," the veteran star, who has been in show business for more than five decades, said: “I’m honored I was chosen. Mabigat na trabaho ito at kailangan ko rin ng tulong ng council at iba pang kasama sa industriya.”

That said, Tirso reiterated he will still remain active as an actor.

“Artista pa rin ako. Bread at butter ko ito. Babalik pa ako sa 'FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano' at iba pang projects na committed na ako,” was how he put it.

Meanwhile, outgoing FDCP Chairperson Liza Diño expressed support to Tirso.

According to her, they are preparing for a smooth transition process.

Liza served the national film agency as an appointee of then-President Rodrigo Roa Duterte starting in 2016.

Her term was extended until 2021.

Last March, Duterte re-appointed Liza as FDCP chair anew.

She was supposed to serve another three-year term that would last until 2025 but for Tirso’s appointment.
