PNP confident of ending PH drug problem under PBBM

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has expressed confidence that it would be able to reduce the illegal drugs problems in the country within the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

Police Maj. Gen. Valeriano De Leon, PNP director for Operations, said they would implement new strategies in the campaign against illegal drugs, which he said, will be presented to the Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos.

“Our program is more focused on the awareness, monitoring and education of those being rehabilitated before they are integrated back to the community. Once this is presented to our SILG (Secretary of the Interior and Local Government), I believe he will give some instructions relating to this,” said De Leon.

De Leon said the drug war had a good start under the Duterte administration and with the pronouncement of Marcos that he would continue what was started in 2016, the PNP believes that their target is achievable.

Duterte promised but failed to end the illegal drugs problem in the country.

“For the next six years, with the big steps and with the gains we had in the past administration, we are confident that we could put down this illegal drug problem to a very manageable level,” said De Leon.

“This is the dream of every Filipino and this dream has been our motivation to accomplish this goal,” he stressed.
