Police collar Iloilo’s most wanted person

ILOILO CITY – Police arrested Iloilo’s No. 1 most wanted person Tuesday, July 5.

The suspect, Aren Fernandez Bacong, 45, resident of San Dionisio, Iloilo, is wanted for 15 counts of rape.

Judge Jose Mauricio Gomez of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 71 based in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest in November 2021.

Bacong allegedly fled last year and went into hiding in Banate, Iloilo.

Units under the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) arrested Bacong in a joint operation in Banate – the police stations of San Dionisio led by Police Lt. Soviet Torre, Banate led by Police Lt. Randy Lambungan, Ajuy led by Police Lt. Danilo Noca, and Barotac Viejo led by Police Major Ciriaco Esquilarga.

The four municipal police stations coordinated with the IPPO Provincial Intelligence Branch and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led by Police Capt. Harold Rendora as well as the Provincial Mobile Force Company led by Police Lt. Colonel Elmer Magbanua.

Bacong will be turned over to the RTC Branch 71 to face his criminal cases.
