Nexplay Evos has decided to part ways with its gold laner Jhonwin “Hesa” Vergara after two seasons with the team, the esports organization announced on Wednesday, July 5.

“You made a significant impact when you debuted in the league because of your admirable skills and clutch gameplays. Everyone was amazed by your consistency and prowess as a gold laner since day one,” said NXPE in a post.

“You are definitely a game-changer in the team and Nexplay Evos made a statement in every battle that you were in. It's a pleasure to witness your greatness while wearing our flag and we will be forever grateful to you for bringing NXPE to the next level,” it added.

Hesa joined the team in Season 8 and was a vital part in its franchise-best run where it finished fourth in the tournament – ending the team’s seasons of futility infamously known as the "eighth place curse." The then up-and-coming gold laner was even considered as one of the best rookies of the year, only losing to eventual winner Jhonard “Demonkite” Caranto of the RSG Philippines.

He returned to action in Season 9 but played limited minutes as he shared the gold laner position with NXPE’s then off-season recruit Mariusz “Donut” Tan. NXPE made it to the playoffs but came up short after falling to Onic Philippines for 5th-6th place finish.

Hesa is the fourth departure for Nexplay this season after it recently let go the trio of Rainiel “Ureshiii” Logronio, Kenneth “Cadenza” Castro and Michael “MP the King” Endino.
