MB Daily News Update: PBBM holds 1st Cabinet meeting, focuses on PH economy

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. presided over his first Cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning, July 5, 2022, with the Philippine economy – facing high inflation and fuel crisis – as the its main focus.

The Cabinet attention came at a no better time after the government reported an increase in inflation to 6.1 percent for the month, the highest in the past three years.

And things could even get worse after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) raised the “yellow alert” condition for the Luzon grid at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, which meant that a lack of power reserves could potentially plunge the country’s main economic center into rotational blackouts.

These are among the top stories this Tuesday afternoon, July 5, 2022.
