Hyun Bin, Son Ye-jin’s ‘Crash Landing on You’ to premiere as a musical in Korea

Korean star couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s hit drama “Crash Landing on You” will be turned into a musical that will premiere this year.

On July 4, a prologue teaser poster of the “Crash Landing on You” musical was posted on Instagram, showing a picture similar to the paragliding scene in the drama wherein Yoon Se-ri (played by Son Ye-jin) lands in North Korea and meets Ri Jeong-hyeok (Hyun Bin).

The musical version of the drama will premiere on Sept. 16 at the Coex Shinhan Card Artium in Gangnam, Seoul and will run until Nov. 13. It is produced by Pop Music Co. and T2N Media.

Korean media outlet TV Daily reported that actors Lee Jang-woo, star of the daily drama “Homemade Love Story,” and Lee Kyu-hyung of “Prison Playbook” will play the role of Ri Jeong-hyeok in the musical.

After starring in “Crash Landing on You,” Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin announced on Jan. 1, 2021 that they were a couple.

They revealed on Feb. 10 this year that they were getting married.

“I thought long and hard about how to share this story because it’s an important one. I found someone to spend the rest of my life with. Yes... it’s him. Boy meets girl, recognizes each other in the crowd, promises to build a future together...I couldn’t imagine! It happened so naturally...But, isn’t that destiny?” Son Ye-jin said.

The two stars got married in a lavish wedding on March 31 in Seoul. They went to the US for their honeymoon on April 11 and returned to South Korea on April 28.

Last June 27, Son Ye-jin announced that she is pregnant with their first baby, or nearly three months after their marriage.

“Hello everyone, how have you been? I'm doing great. Today, I want to carefully but happily share an announcement to you all. We are expecting a new life soon,” she wrote, according to SBS News.

Son Ye-jin added, “It still feels surreal, but I'm slowly living it while feeling the changes in my body with full of concerns and excitement. I'm so grateful, but I haven't been able to tell anyone about this because I was cautious.”

“For fans who have been waiting for this news just as much as we are, I'm informing this news to you all before it gets later. We will take a good care of the precious life that has come to us. I hope you will also take care of the things that are precious ones in your life, and stay healthy. Let's be happy,” she added.
