Cagayan coastal town seawall project 40% complete – DPWH

BALLESTEROS, Cagayan – A seawall project in this coastal town is almost halfway complete, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Cagayan Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-CSDEO) bared Monday, July 4.

Regional Director Loreta M. Malaluan and District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran said the project will provide protection to residents against water overflow and storm surges.

According to Gumiran, the P50-million project involves the construction of an 820-linear meter slope protection and shore protection measuring 0.2-meter thick.

It will also involve the fabrication of more than 4,000 pieces of concrete hexapod that will help prevent scouring around the foundation of the structure.

Civil works are 40 percent, setting the project completion on or before its scheduled date in October.

The project is being implemented thru the Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG) program funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2022.
