PTV's 'Laging Handa' briefings to continue with new host for now --- Palace exec

With the new administration, the program lineup of the State-run People's Television Network (PTV-4) may also change, affecting several shows, including its "Laging Handa" public briefing.

In a statement, Communications Undersecretary Ina Reformina said that the program and other shows of PTV-4 will continue for now.

"Will post an update once information from PTV-4 is in regarding guest/s for the 'Laging Handa' briefing tomorrow, Monday, July 4, 2022," the former ABS-CBN reporter said.

"We are retaining the current programming of PTV-4 until the necessary appointments shall have been in place, and any reformat is duly approved," she added.

"Laging Handa" is a TV program of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) that started airing over PTV-4 when former President Rodrigo Duterte declared the first Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020.

Initially hosted by former Communications Secretary Martin Andanar and former Communications Undersecretary and PTV-4 anchor Rocky Ignacio, the program aims to keep the public updated about the pandemic.

The program airs every Monday to Saturday for one hour from 11 a.m. before the regular Malacañang briefings. Ignacio served as the solo host of the show until June 29. She also moderated the Palace pressers.

After Ignacio's exit, the "Laging Handa" public briefing will now be hosted by Audrey Goricetta, who comes from PTV-4's current pool of anchors. He started hosting the show on July 1.

It will also move to a later time slot as PCOO Secretary Rose Beatrix 'Trixie' Cruz-Angeles's briefings will start at 11 a.m.
