Jaime Fresnedi was sworn in as Muntinlupa’s new congressman on Thursday, June 30, leaving his post of 18 years as mayor.
This is the first time that Fresnedi will serve as congressman of Muntinlupa, replacing Ruffy Biazon, who is now the mayor. The two ran together under the One Muntinlupa team in the May 9 elections and won.
In his speech, Fresnedi thanked the public for their support. Fresnedi started in public service after the 1986 EDSA Revolution.
“Sa loob ng paninilbihan ko bilang Legal Officer ng sampung buwan, Vice Mayor ng sampung taon, at Mayor ng labingwalong taon, nagsikap at nagtulungan tayo na maabot ang mga adhikain at pangarap natin para sa Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (In my service as legal officer for 10 months, vice mayor for 10 years, and mayor for 18 years, we strove and helped each other to reach our goals and dreams for the City of Muntinlupa),” he said.
Fresnedi thanked the business sector, non-government organizations, civil organizations and taxpayers for their trust and support to the city government amid the pandemic.
He also thanked government agencies, the City Council, political leaders, citizens, barangays, and city employees.
Fresnedi said he has peace of mind that Biazon is the new mayor of Muntinlupa.
“Sa ating bagong ama ng Lungsod, Mayor Ruffy Biazon, malaki ang hamon sa ating hinaharap ngunit batid ko na handa ka na tumugon sa mandatong iniatang sa iyo ng sambayanang Muntinlupeno (To our new father of the city, Mayor Ruffy Biazon, you are facing a big challenge but I know that you are ready to respond to the mandate given to you by Muntinlupeno),” he said.
He said he is ready to face his new duty as congressman of Muntinlupa.
“Sa panibagong hamon na iniatang sa akin ng taumbayan bilang inyong kinatawan sa Kongreso, asahan ninyo na babaunin ko ang mga bagay na aking natutunan at pinahahalagahan sa aking pagse-serbisyo-publiko. Habambuhay kong tatanawin na malaking utang na loob ang inyong mga panalangin at mensahe ng pagmamahal (In the new challenge bestowed on me by the people as your representative in Congress, rest assured that I will carry with me all the things that I have learned and given importance in my public service. I will always be grateful for all your prayers and messages of love),” said Fresnedi.
He added, “Hindi ito pagtatapos, bagkus ay bagong yugto, bagong kabanata, ng inyong lingkod at ng bawat isang Muntinlupeno. Mga kasama sa pamahalaan at mga kababayan, kayo po ang nagsilbing inspirasyon ko sa aking paglilingkuran. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. (This is not the end, instead this is a new stage, new chapter, of your servant and for each Muntinlupeno. To my colleagues in the government and to residents, you have served as my inspiration in service. Thank you very much).”
