Lani Cayetano sworn in as new mayor of Taguig


Ma. Laarni “Lani” Cayetano, wife of newly-elected Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, was sworn in as the new mayor of Taguig City on June 30.

Cayetano and other newly-elected officials of Taguig took their oath of office at the Senator Renato "Companero" Cayetano Memorial Science & Technology High School in Barangay Ususan.

Presiding Judge Antonio Olivete of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 267 administered Cayetano’s oath of office.

“We are chosen as instruments by the Father to lead and transform lives,” said Mayor Cayetano in her speech.

She added, “Today, my fellow government officials and I took our oath not only in front of our family, other government officials, city stakeholders and our 'kababayans' watching us live and online but we took an oath before God. In our journey in public service, we implore God's grace and guidance as we govern our beloved Taguigenos.”

Cayetano vowed to intensify programs for the benefit of city residents.

“Ibibigay natin sa publiko ang isang accountable local government with full transparency. (We will give to the public an accountable local government with full transparency),” she vowed.

She said she will focus on peace and order and health security that will bring economic growth to Taguig.

“We will revisit our business policies and strive to be the best city to invest and do business in,” she added.

Cayetano also thanked her husband “for his unwavering passion for good governance that has always been a guiding light for me. I’ve never seen a public official as fearless as him.”

“Alan, thank you very much for all your love and support. Pinasasalamatan kita sa lahat ng tagumpay at sa hirap na pinagdadaanan natin mapaglingkuran lang natin ang Diyos at ang bayan (I thank you for all the triumphs and struggles we have been going through just to serve God and the country),” she said.
