On Pope’s Day, Papal Nuncio asks faithful to pray for Pope Francis

As the Catholic Church observes Pope’s Day on Wednesday, June 29, to coincide with the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles John Brown calls on the faithful to pray for the health of Pope Francis.

“The Pope’s Day mass will be an opportunity to pray for Pope Francis in a special way for his strength and health,” Archbishop Brown said over Radio Veritas. The Vatican has recently canceled some of the Holy Father’s engagements due to problems with his knees.

The Papal Envoy will lead the Pope’s Day mass with Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila at 6 p.m.

The Catholic Church observes the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul as Pope’s Day as the Church considers the two saints as the Pillars of the Catholic faith.

Meanwhile, there will be a public veneration of the relics of former Pontiffs now Saints John XXIII, Paul VI, and John Paul II at the Manila Cathedral to mark Pope’s Day. Prayer cards in honor of the three saints will also be distributed to mass goers.
