ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The National Bureau of Investigation-Western Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-WEMRO) arrested two persons during an entrapment operation for allegedly selling lots using fake land titles.
NBI Director Eric Distor identified the suspects as Indira T. Pulalon and Amelito W. Sappari.
Distor said two victims appeared before their office and complained that properties were sold and mortgaged to them for P13,460,000 by four persons using fake land titles.
Last June 1, the victims informed the NBI that the suspects were engaged in yet another scam using a spurious land title amounting to P1.5 million.
NBI-WEMRO planned the entrapment operation which led to the arrest of Pulalon and a certain Wenceslao Tanglao, the alleged owner of the property who was later identified as Amelito Sappari.
On June 2, the suspects underwent inquest proceedings for violation of the Revised Penal Code provision against Estafa through Falsification of Public Documents.
The NBI is still hunting down three suspects who are reportedly still at large and engaged in the same fraudulent activity.
