Anti-crime campaign nets 4 drug personalities, 54 wanted persons in Cordillera


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Four suspected drug personalities and 54 wanted persons were arrested during intensified anti-criminality operation by the Police Regional Office-Cordillera.

In a week-long manhunt operation from June 19 to 25, Benguet police arrested 18 wanted persons, followed by the Baguio police with 14; Ifugao police with seven; Abra police with five; Mountain Province police with four, and Apayao and Kalinga police with three arrests.

The manhunt operation was highlighted by the arrest of two wanted persons on the provincial and station levels.

On the provincial level, Jun Galate, listed as No. 5, was arrested by the Benguet police for violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

On the station level, Cezerah Liwaliw, listed as No. 7, was arrested by operatives of the Baguio police for perjury.

Police identified the arrested drug suspects as Yama Apil, 25; Christopher Dumlao, 26; Lord Eji Cahilig, 26; and Irene Velasco, 42.

They are now facing charges for violating Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were arrested in a series of buy-bust operations Monday, June 27.

The suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of the operating units for documentation and proper disposition.
