Weeklong operations net 506 criminals in W. Visayas


ILOILO CITY – A total of 506 personalities wanted by law were apprehended in a weeklong series of raids and operations against all forms of criminality in Western Visayas region.

The Police Regional Office (PRO-6) reported that 238 of those apprehended in the anti-criminality campaign dubbed ‘Birada Semana’ for a period of June 20 to June 26 were wanted persons.

These included the 38 most wanted persons (MWPs) and 200 other classified other wanted persons (OWPs)in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.

Cops also caught 66 drug suspects in 54 operations. The anti-drug operations seized shabu and marijuana worth P1.99 million.

The number of suspects caught in anti-gambling operations totaled to around 216.

Cops also seized 216 unlicensed firearms and 17 explosives from 17 firearm holders.

“These accomplishments are a testament of your commitment and dedication in ensuring every community is peaceful and orderly,” said Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, regional director of Police Regional Office-Region 6.

“It is our utmost dream that everyone can sleep soundly at night,” the police regional director added.
