Teenage truck helper electrocuted in Negros

BACOLOD CITY - A 17-year-old boy died after he was electrocuted in Barangay Dulao, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Monday.

The name of the victim, who was a trailer truck helper and a resident of Hinigaran town, was withheld.

Police Senior Master Sgt. Job Ogares, chief investigator of Bago City Police Station, said the victim was assisting in the loading of a backhoe into a trailer truck, when the bucket of a backhoe hit the live wire of an electrical post.

The backhoe operator failed to notice that it hit a live wire, Ogares said. At that time, the victim was on top of the trailer truck.

The victim was brought to a hospital here, where he later died.

Ogares said backhoe operator Reynan Martinez, 31, of Barangay Mandalagan here, was released from police custody on Monday night, after his conversation with the victim’s family.
