Oliver Tolentino continues to dress international entertainment champions

Emmy winner Mishael Morgan and Tony Award honoree Christine Toy Johnson were seen wearing his pieces on the red carpet

Beverly Hills-based Filipino fashion designer Oliver Tolentino's red carpet sighting continues with his pieces worn by entertainment champions in the US.

During the Tony Awards last June 12, Broadway actress Christine Toy Johnson wore his cobalt blue silky dupioni high-low ball gown as she accepted the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theater award on behalf of the Asian American Performers Action Coalition (AAPAC).

At the recently concluded 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, the Filipino couturier became a part of history as he dressed Mishael Morgan, the first Black performer to ever win the Outstanding Lead Actress award. “The Young and the Restless” star donned a black and red floral print mikado column gown accented with a side peplum and a detachable train straight from the designer’s LA Fashion Week collection.

In his interview with the Golden Globes, Oliver shared his experience of becoming a fashion designer and breaking into Hollywood. His advice for aspiring fashion designers is to, “Work hard. Be ethical and humble. Study all aspects of fashion. If you’re not good at business, find someone whom you can trust to handle that for you.”

Apart from Christine and Mishael, other theater and entertainment elites such as Carrie Underwood, Emmy Rossum, and Carrie Fisher have worn some of his designs.
