6 PH firms among Institutional Investor's most honored


Six Philippine firms were included in the list of honored companies in Asia in Institutional Investor’s 2022 Asia (ex-Japan) Executive Team Survey.

Based on the poll results published in the Institutional Investor website, the six local firms in the list are D&L Industries Inc., Century Pacific Foods, PLDT Inc., Bank of the Philippine Islands, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, and International Container Terminal Services Inc.

Institutional Investor is a leading international business-to-business publisher, focused primarily on international finance.

It is a trusted source for research and rankings among top analysts and portfolio managers in the financial industry. It is arguably the most prestigious award-giving body in the investment community.

D&L was ranked fifth among Consumer Staples in the Small and Midcap Category and seventh among Consumer Staples in the Asia (ex-China, Japan) category while CNPF ranked third (tied) in the same category.

BPI was ranked fifth among Banks in the Small and Midcap category while PLDT was seventh among Telecommunications in the came category.

For Industrials (Asia ex-China,Japan), MPIC was ranked third (tied) followed by ICTSI in fifth place.

CNPF President Teodoro Alexander Po was also ranked the best CEO for Consumer Staples (Asia ex-China, Japan) by respondents from the buy side and third best CEO by the combined votes from the buy side and sell side.

MPIC President Jose Ma. K. Lim was ranked as the best CEO for Industrials (Asia Ex-China, Japan) by the sell side, while they named MPIC Chief Finance Officer June Cheryl Cabal-Revilla as the best CFO under the same category.

ICTSI CFO Rafael Consing Jr.was named best CFO under the same category by the combined sell and buy side votes.

BPI CFO Maria Theresa Marcial-Javier was ranked third best CFO for Banks under the Small and Midcap category by the combined sell and buy side votes.

D&L’s Investor Relations Officer Crissa Bondad was named the Best IR Professional for Consumer Staples (Asia ex-China, Japan) by the buy side respondents while CNPF’s Dappy Tecson came in third.

Bondad was also ranked third Best IR Professional overall for Small and Midcap firms under the Consumer Staples category by the buy side while ICTSI’s Arthur Tabuena was third Best IR Professional for Industrials (Asia ex-China, Japan) for the combined buy and sell side.

MPIC’s Maricris Aldover was named Best IR Professional for Industrials under the Small and Midcap Category for the sell side while PLDT’s Melissa Vergel de Dios was third Best IR Professional for Telecommunications under the Small and Midcap Category for the buy side.

For this ranking, Institutional Investor surveyed buy-side analysts, money managers and sell-side researchers at securities firms and financial institutions that cover the region, including those who cast and received votes in this year’s 2022 All-Asia Research Team survey.

Survey results reflect the opinions from 4,854 investment professionals at 1,612 financial services firms.

Participants were asked to rate the chief executive officers, chief financial officers and investor relations professionals at the companies in their coverage universes.

CEOs were rated on their credibility, leadership and communication. CFOs were rated on their ability in capital allocation, financial stewardship and communication.

For the Investor Relations programs, companies were rated on the following attributes: roadshows/conferences/meetings; IR team authority and credibility; accessibility of senior execs; responsiveness; earnings calls, business and market knowledge, timeliness of disclosure; and consistency and granularity of disclosure.

Additionally, companies were rated on the following ESG attributes: corporate ESG strategy; ESG engagement; and ESG disclosure. All votes are weighted by rating (five being excellent; one being average) and attributes within each category were aggregated to create the CEO, CFO, IR Professional, IR Program and ESG rankings.

Honored Companies are companies who achieved at least one published position.

To earn the designation of Most Honored Company, a company must achieve a weighted score of 15 or more points across the five categories in the combined, buy-side and sell-side rankings, wherein each first-place position is worth three points; second place, two; and third place, one.
