Use of face masks still strictly enforced in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin Magalong here once again called on residents not to be complacent and keep using face masks due to the resurgence of Covid-19 in this city.

Magalong said strict enforcement of face mask wearing and other provisions under Covid-19 Alert Level 1 will be continued in the nation's Summer Capital currently under Alert Level 1 until the end of June.

He said the city will continue to follow the directives of the National Task Force-Inter-Agency Task Force (NTF-IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) in the ongoing fight against the pandemic.

"We do not intend to make any statements or executive orders that are contrary to IATF statements or policies. We are still in the pandemic period and the virus has not disappeared, so we must continue to be vigilant."

“Only the national announcement has the right to say that the facemask can be removed and the important thing is we follow the rules and regulations of the IATF and do not violate them or be stubborn in the matter, " Magalong said.

He said many countries have reported the Covid-19 has once again spread due to neglect of health protocols, especially the removal of face masks. Several countries in Europe and areas in the United States are now ordering their people to wear masks again.
