A week since starting his first foray overseas as a coach, Zico already saw progress with his new crew and noted that the players are making good adjustments with the new system he is trying to employ.

“Nung nasa PH pa lang kino-coach ko na sila online so medyo may na-establish and progress na. Pagdating ko dito, kinabukasan nag start na din agad ng scrim. Nakakatuwa kasi lahat sila nakikinig and willing matuto,” Zico said of his crew composed of XEON, C CAT, ATM, Fury, and D7 which finished fourth in the MPL Cambodia Spring 2022.

In MPL Philippines, Zico played an active hand in turning the fortunes of Nexplay Evos which dwelled in the cellar during its first two seasons in the league. With Zico at the helm, NXPE finally got over the hump and finished fourth in Season 8 – something that he also wants to achieve with his new team.

Although Zico admitted that PH is still slightly ahead of the META, the young tactician believes that his wards have what it takes to compete against the best in the region.

“Proper mindset and konting batak pa yung kailangan namin i-work out, malalakas talaga sila even though most of them are still studying,” said Zico.

"'Yun yung pinagkaiba sa PH dahil lahat ng pro players sa Pinas talagang nakatutok sa ML. Sa meta naman almost the same, advanced lang ng konti ang PH,” he added.
