Robbery suspect killed in Bulacan shootout

A man who had just robbed a convenience store was killed in an alleged shootout with policemen in Barangay San Isidro 1, Paombong, Bulacan early Saturday morning, June 25.

Col. Charlie A. Cabradilla, acting Bulacan police director, said investigators are still establishing the identity of the slain suspect.

Cabradilla said that prior to the shooting incident, one Sherlyn Lagman, store crew of Alfamart San Isidro 1 in Paombong, informed the police that they were being held up by two armed men.

Paombong police immediately responded and saw the two suspects leaving the scene.

One of the suspects managed to escape on board a motorcycle toward Hagonoy, leaving behind his cohort.

In a desperate attempt to elude arrest, the suspect who was left behind tried to shoot the responding police officers, but his firearm jammed, giving the authorities the chance to shoot back, killing him.

Police seized from the scene four spent shells of 9mm bullets, a .45-caliber Colt pistol with one magazine loaded with six live ammunition.

Paombong police are still conducting a follow-up investigation on the incident.
