Soldier dies in Pangasinan road accident

UMINGAN, Pangasinan -- A young soldier died in an accident after his tricycle collided with a tanker truck in barangay Nancalabasaan in this town at around 1:20 a.m. on Friday, June 24.

Pangasinan Police Provincial Office identified the victim as Carlo Jay Casildo, 26, single, active member of the Philippine Army, and a resident of Brgy. Alo-o, Umingan, Pangasinan.

Based on police report, Casildo was on board his tricycle that was going in southern direction.

The report said Casildo was driving his tricycle in zigzagging manner, and may have not noticed the tanker truck on the opposite direction.

The tanker was being driven by Ronald Mabli y Ba-on, 32, a resident of St. Joseph, Dr. Palmera III, Dolores, Taytay, Rizal and a native of Brgy. Upper Bilis, Burgos, La Union.

“Maaaring hindi napansin ang truck na paparating kaya parehong hindi na maiiwasan ang pangyayari,” a resident here who requested not to be identified told Manila Bulletin.

Casildo sustained injuries and was brought to Umingan Community Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Umingan police said the victim’s family and the driver of the tanker had already agreed to an amicable settlement.
