941 security personnel tapped for inauguration of Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte

MAYOR-elect Duterte
DAVAO CITY – A total of 941 security personnel will be deployed during the inauguration of Mayor-elect Sebastian “Baste” Duterte Monday, June 27, at the Sanggunian Panglungsod here, an official of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said Friday, June 24.

DCPO spokesperson Police Major Ma. Teresita P. Gaspan said that the inauguration will be attended by Sebastian’s father, outgoing President Duterte, who himself served as long-time mayor of this city before being elected to the country’s highest position in 2016.

She added that planning among members of the security cluster is ongoing to secure the safety of attendees.

The incoming mayor, the President’s youngest son with former wife Elizabeth Zimmerman, will take his oath as first-time mayor before Associate Justice Loida Posadas-Kahulugan of the Court of Appeals at around 2:55 p.m.

Sebastian served as vice mayor from 2019 to 2022.

Gaspan said immediately after taking his oath, Mayor Duterte will come out of the session hall to deliver his speech outside the SP building.

Unlike the inauguration of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte last June 19, Gaspan said the event will be open to public and that authorities will neither put up railings nor enforce a rerouting scheme for the inauguration of another Duterte.

She added that the security team is composed of the DCPO, Public Safety and Security Command Center, Davao City Central 911, Task Force Davao, and Philippine Army.
