A total of 218 students in Valenzuela City signed Thursday, June 23, their scholarship contracts under the local government’s “Dr. Pio Valenzuela Scholarship Program”.

Mayor Rex Gatchalian attended the program orientation and contract signing held at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (PLV) main campus in Brgy. Maysan.

The local government said the qualified scholars are all incoming college freshmen who applied for the program from January to March 2022. Most of them are PLV enrollees.

It added that the students, who enrolled for baccalaureate courses, will receive P15,000 cash assistance per semester – P7,500 will be given before the midterm and another P7,500 before the final term.

There are around 900 scholars under the program, the city government said.

The Dr. Pio Valenzuela Program was implemented in the city in 1995 under City Ordinance No. 95-12 to help the students in the city pursue higher learning.
