NTC directs ISPs to block 'terrorist-leaning' websites

The National Telecommunications Commission has directed Internet Service Providers to immediately block websites found by the National Security Council to be affiliated to and are supporting terrorists and terrorist organizations.

The NTC is working on a request by National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. to block 20 websites of groups such as Save Our Schools Network, Rural Missionaries of the Philippines, Pamalakaya Pilipinas, and BAYAN, among others.

News organizations Bulatlat and Pinoy Weekly are also included in the list.

"With reference to the Letter dated June 6, 2022 by the National Security Council, you are hereby directed to effect the immediate blocking of the reported websites found to be affiliated to and are supporting terrorist and terrorist organizations," wrote NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba in his June 8, 2022 letter to ISPs.

In the same letter, the NTC also asked the ISPs to submit a report on the action they took in connection with the directive five days upon receipt.
