In a statement released on Tuesday, June 21, PRC said that immediate detection of the Covid-19 virus in a person will help prevent its further transmission.

This call to the public is in line with the Department of Health's report on an increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the country.

As per the said report, there were 3,051 new cases for the period of June 13-19 which is 82 percent higher than the recorded number the previous week.

“Sa lahat ng panahon, ginagawa namin sa Red Cross ang lahat para maging laging una at laging handang tumugon sa panahon ng kalamidad at sakuna (At all times, we at Red Cross does everything to be always ahead and ready to assist in times of calamities and disasters),” Gordon said.

He also said that a booster shot is needed to add protection against the virus.

Moreover, Gordon assured that PRC is well prepared for any incoming surge with its 14 operational molecular laboratories across the country.

The organization also continues to assist the government's vaccination efforts through its 17 "Bakuna" buses, 26 "Bakuna" Centers, and 24 "Bakuna" Teams designated on the local government units.

PRC advised that those interested to book an RT-PCR test may visit their website.

PRC vaccination centers, "Bakuna" Buses, and "Bakuna" Teams offer free vaccinations across the country; walk-in clients are welcome from 8 a.m to 5 p.m, Monday to Friday. (Luisa Cabato)
