Car wash worker killed, another injured in Iligan City attack


ILIGAN CITY -- A carwash worker was killed while another was injured after they were attacked inside their room around 2:43 in the morning on Tuesday, June 21, in Purok San Miguel, Barangay Tubod here.

Authorities responding to a report from a concerned citizen found two dead bodies, male and a female, both with multiple injuries on their heads and lying on their bed.

The victims were believed to have been struck with hard objects several times.

No evidence was recovered at the crime scene, the Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) Spokesperson Police Major Zandrex Panolong said.

Panolong identified the male victim as Jason Socoro, 27 years old, who was declared dead by the responding medical personnel.

The female victim identified only as Ginalyn Ambalong Y Flordeles, 25, jobless, was immediately brought to Don Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital (DGTLMH).

Authorities identified the suspect as Ramil Gabonales, legal age, a resident of Maranding, Lala Lanao del Norte.

Further investigation said that Socoro and Gabonales are employees of Ewaton car wash owned by Saadodin M Pendaton.

Based on the statement of the caretaker Orlando Labajo Y Igot, the victims lived at the back of the carwash shop while the suspect lived inside the car wash premises.

Accordingly, the victim (Jason) and the suspect have previous conflict and personal grudges.

Suspect Ramil was no longer in the area, and intel operatives are now conducting pursuit operations for the possible arrest of the suspect.
