BI nabs 8 alleged members of international drug ring


Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents have arrested eight foreign nationals suspected of being members of a big-time West African drugs syndicate in separate operations in Metro Manila.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the suspects were apprehended on Friday, June 17, during separate operations conducted by operatives from the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU) in the cities of Las Piñas and Makati.

"They will to be criminally charged and prosecuted in court and, if convicted, they will have to first serve their sentences before we can deport them," said Morente.

He disclosed that those arrested were caught in possession of illegal drugs have overstayed in the county.

FSU chief Rendel Ryan Sy said two Yemenis, identified as brothers Ayesh Hazem Faiz Kadaf and Ayesh Hamzah Faiz Kadaf, were arrested inside their residence in Las Piñas City along with Djibouti, Mohamoud Mouhoumed Mohamed.

In another operation, the lawmen arrested Sudanese nationals Mohamed Alfaith Mohamed Saeed Osman, Eltayeb Ahmed Subahi Faris and Angolan Ciel Do Carmo Miguel Domingos at their residence in Gen. Luna St., Poblacion, Makati City.

Also arrested was Sri Lankan Mohamed Silmy Sahabdeen and Kyrgyztani national Anara Ruslanova.
