18 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in Caraga region


BUTUAN CITY – The regional office of the Department of Health (DOH Caraga Region 13) reported late yesterday afternoon 18 new cases of Covid-19 in Northeastern Mindanao or The Caraga region.

The figure was from June 12 to June 18 and no death was registered, the DOH 13 said in a statement sent to The Manila Bulletin.

The DOH-13 also said two cities in Caraga region recorded zero Covid-19 infections during the same whole week period.

In its weekly report Monday, DOH-13 said no Covid-19 cases were recorded in the cities of Cabadbaran (Agusan del Norte),and Bayugan (Agusan del Sur) in the same period.

No Covid-19 infections were also logged in the Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI) and Agusan del Sur during the period.

In its new cases by province and city, the DOH 13 said Agusan del Norte registered 3 cases (Buenavista 1, Nasipit 1, Carmen 1),Surigao del Norte 1 (Tubod), Surigao del Sur 2 (San Miguel 1, Barobo 1), Surigao City 2 (Taft 1, Quezon 1), Bislig City 1 (Poblacion), Tandag City 1(Mabua) and Butuan City 8.

New cases by barangay in Butuan City : Libertad-1, Obrero -1, Lemon-1, Port Poyohon-1, Doongan-1, Basag-1, Banza-1 and Ampayon-1.

No severe or critical cases were reported in the 18 new Covid-19 cases logged last week in Caraga region, the agency added.

However, with this new development, the regional office of DOH 13 reminded the public “not to be complacent about the threat of Covid-19.

“We must continue to properly adhere to the minimum public health standards under Alert Level 1,” added the DOH 13.

Meanwhile, Caraga region also registered 15 new recoveries last week, bringing the total number of recoveries to 56,755 The death toll from the virus stood at 2,213 as no Covid-19 fatalities were reported in the past week.

In terms of vaccination, DOH-13 said 1,624,511 individuals in the region are fully immunized as of Monday, or 71.6 percent of the total number of targets for inoculation in the region.

A total of 3,392,979 Covid-19 vaccines were also administered in the region, with 216,368 individuals given their booster shots.
