“The short lists are getting shorter. If we started with 10 names, a dozen names, we are down to maybe three or two in each of those departments.”

Thus, said President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in a press conference on Monday, June 20, as he gave an idea of just how close he is to naming his nominees to the remaining Cabinet positions.

During the press conference at te BBM headquarters in Mandaluyong City, reporters asked Marcos if he had decided on the personalities who would lead agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH).

Marcos replied that he may announce his pick for DOH secretary within the week.

“But we need to pick really, department by department. And, of course, health–not to say that the Department of Health is unimportant but we are coming around to that and I wouldn’t be surprised if we have an appointee or a nominee within the next week or so,” he continued.

“I really want to get as many of those done before the inauguration,” he said.

Marcos also said that, “at least for now,” he would personally take up the portfolio of Department of Agriculture (DA) secretary.
