Pa hacks son dead over land dispute in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY – A father allegedly killed his son over a land dispute in Barangay Maaslob, Calatrava, Negros Occidental Saturday, June 18.

Police identified the victim as Carlito Bini, 42, of Barangay Maaslob.

Initial investigation showed that the victim confronted his father, Rebico, 65, when he saw him cutting the trees which Carlito claimed to be his.

Police Major Lumyaen Lidawan, Calatrava police chief, said that a heated argument followed, followed by a commotion when the victim allegedly took his bolo and hacked his father.

Lidawan said Rebico was able to evade fatal attacks from his son, and was able to retaliate, hitting the knees of the victim.

Police recovered from the crime scene two bolos while the suspect was later arrested.

Lidawan said the victim was declared dead on arrival in a hospital while Rebico sustained minor injuries.

The Calatrava police chief said the victim allegedly had previous threats from his son regarding their family-owned land.
