600 VIPs grace VP Sara's oath-taking in Davao City

DAVAO CITY -- Over 600 VIPs are expected to grace and witness the inauguration of Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio as the 15th Vice President of the Philippines at the San Pedro Square here Sunday, June 19.

City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) head Gene Rose Tecson said that at least four ambassadors and other VIP guests from the United States, China, Japan, Romania, Germany, and South Korea will be attending the event.

Sara's father, outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, governors, representatives, barangay officials, and other politicians from various regions nationwide are also expected to attend the inauguration.

"It's a rain or shine event," said Tecson, adding that the City Government of Davao has prepared raincoats for the general public in case of rains.

The program was preceded by an hour-long thanksgiving mass celebrated at the San Pedro Cathedral by Archbishop Romulo Valles.

A huge LED had been mounted at the San Pedro Street for the live streaming of the mass so that people even in the corner of CM Recto and Anda Streets, Bolton Street, and the corner of Magallanes and Rizal streets could get a glimpse of it.
