Senior citizen killed in hit-and-run involving lawyer in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – A senior citizen was killed in a hit-and-run incident involving a lawyer on La Salle Ave. in Barangay Villamonte here Thursday, June 16.

Police Major Ritchie Gohee, head of Police Station 4, identified the victim as Aquilino Cambelisa Jr., 63, of Barangay Mandalagan here.

Gohee said police failed to get details on how the incident happened as the victim has been taken by rescuers to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here when the traffic investigator arrived.

Gohee said the driver of the sedan, believed to be a lawyer, based on the information from one of the rescuers, reportedly left the scene when the victim was brought to an ambulance.

On Saturday, June 18, Gohee said that a representative of the sedan driver informed the police that they are willing to meet the victim’s family on Monday, June 20, to discuss the incident.

Gohee said that police are letting the victim’s family decide if they want to pursue a case or have a settlement.
