BACOLOD CITY – A 54-year-old suspected drug personality was gunned down here Thursday, June 16.

The victim was identified as Adonis Matulac, a newly identified street-level individual, of Barangay Singcang-Airport here.

Police Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8 here, said Matulac while he was driving his motorcycle on his way home when a white pickup truck tailed him.

Puerto said the driver of the pickup truck called Matulac, prompting him to stop for a while. A brief conversation followed and the passenger of the vehicle shot the victim in the head at close range.

Police recovered from the crime scene a fired bullet from an alleged .45 caliber pistol.

Puerto said the victim died at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.

Puerto said they already have a person of interest in the incident after a witness surfaced.

He said they are looking into the murder as drug-related since the victim reportedly always failed to remit proceeds from illegal drug transactions to the person of interest.

Aside from that, the person of interest also allegedly suspected that the victim provided information to the police that subjected him to a buy-bust operation, Puerto said.

It was the sixth shooting incident reported here since June 1 and the second this week.
