The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has conducted a symposium for students in Nueva Ecija in a bid to fight the reported recruitment of communist rebels in the province.
1Lt. Arnold A Quiñon, Civili-Military Operations officer of 8th Infantry Battalion, said at least 320 students and teachers of Doña Juana Chioco National High School in Brgy San Antonio Weste in Lupao attended the seminar on June 15.
"This is to increase awareness of the youth and student sectors on the deceptive recruitment and infiltration. The activity aims to educate our students and teachers on how these communist terrorists manipulate, exploit, and deceptively recruit the youth sector," said Quiñon.
“These CTGs (communist terrorist groups) exploit the youth and students as they considered them the lifeblood of the communist terrorism, being the source of its ideologies and political cadres, and for possessing attributes; idealistic, curious and energy," he added.
Lt. Col. Enrico Gil C Ileto, Commanding Officer, 84IB, expressed gratitude to the Department of Education (DepEd) for supporting the endeavor.
