PNP working with BI to prevent SUV owner in viral ramming incident from leaving PH

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now coordinating with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to prevent the registered owner of the sports utility vehicle (SUV) behind the viral ramming incident in Mandaluyong City.

Police Maj. Gen. Valeriano De Leon, PNP director for Operations, said they requested the BI to inform the police or hold Jose Antonio San Vicente Sr. if tries to leave the country amid the cases slapped against him that include frustrated murder.

"We will face the justice system once the local court issues an arrest warrant," said De Leon.

"We are also preparing for the possible service of the warrant of arrest, including the creation of a team to serve the court order and, if necessary, tracker teams," he added.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has already revoked San Vicente's driver's license, and he is also permanently barred from obtaining a license to drive.

De Leon said San Vicente appeared to have no respect to human life and the law following the ramming incident ad his refusal to show up despite the order of the LTO and the Mandaluyong Police.

"Once the arrest warrant is issued, we will disprove his belief that he is above the law and would be protected forever within their exclusive subdivision," said De Leon.

De Leon also assured the public that there is no special treatment to San Vicente, despite rumors that his wealth prevents law enforcement from arresting him.

In fact, he stated that the PNP is determined to apprehend San Vicente because the incident put the entire PNP in a bad light.

"As law enforcement officers, we must respect the legal process. What we can assure you is that once the arrest warrant is issued, he will face the charges leveled against him," said De Leon.
