Department of Transportation (DOTr) Sec. Arthur Tugade and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago led the inauguration ceremony of the upgraded Integrated Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) of the Port of Batangas.

According to PCG, the DOTr and PPA successfully completed the construction of Phases 1 and 2A of the bigger and modern Batangas PTB which has an area of 15,000 square meters.

It also features fully air-conditioned lounges and persons with disability (PWD)-friendly facilities “to offer a more convenient and comfortable sea travel for passengers.”

According to PCG, the completed Phases 1 and 2A of the PTB can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers at any given time.

“Meanwhile, once the construction of Phase 2B is completed, the Batangas Port will be hailed as the biggest terminal port in the country with a capacity of 6,000 passengers at any given time,” it added.

The PCG said that the upgraded port is capable of delivering a “more efficient, seamless, safer, and convenient maritime travel” to locals and visitors.

“These developments are also seen to further provide livelihood to Batangueños as more job opportunities will be opened and expected to usher economic and tourism growth in CALABARZON,” it added.
