‘Drug links, old news,’ says wife of former Iloilo City mayor


ILOILO CITY – The wife of former Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said that President Duterte’s renewed accusation against her husband for his alleged links to a drug syndicate was all but old news.

“Old news. You had six years to prove to the world that Jed is guilty of your charges and you came up empty. Zero. Zilch. That is why you could never get over him,” said Jed Mabilog’s wife Marivic on her Facebook post on Tuesday, June 14.

The post was in response to President Duterte’s statement that her husband will be in exile for an additional six years or unless the opposition party will win in the next presidential election.

“Pati si Mayor Mabilog. Tingnan mo, ang p*****g i** bahay parang palasyo (Even Mayor Mabilog. Look, at his house, it looks like a palace),” Duterte said in a June 12 public address.

“And he (Duterte) still thinks our 140 square meter house is a palace,” commented Marivic.

Since August 2016, the President has been repeatedly implicating Mabilog as an alleged protector of the drug syndicate run by Melvin Odicta, who was killed in 2017.

Marivic has urged the President to devote his remaining days in office in finding the real drug lords instead of making repeated attacks against the former city mayor.

Mabilog has not returned to the country since he left in August 2017 when he attended the international conferences as city mayor.
