Arellano recovered from an opening-set stumble to defeat San Beda, 27-29, 25-19, 25-21, 25-15, Tuesday in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the Paco Arena.
Trina Abay blasted 15 points on 12 kills and three blocks for the Lady Chiefs, who clinched their second straight victory following an opening day triumph over Mapua.
Skipper Carla Donato also shone for Arellano with 11 points even as Nicole Sasuman added 10 points built on eight attacks and two aces.
Kristine Adante also helped with 21 excellent sets on top of seven points.
Arellano fell short in the crunch of the opening set but regained composure in the next three frames to rule San Beda in one hour and 52 minutes.
The Lady Chiefs also dominated the Lady Red Spikers on all fronts that include attacks, 48-42; blocks, 8-4; and service aces 9-3.
Patricia Manalac and Maxine Tayag finished with 14 and 11 points in a losing effort for San Beda, which absorbed its second straight defeat.
