Mayor Vico: Local economy slowly but surely recovering from pandemic

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said Monday, June 13, that the city's economy is slowly but surely recovering from the adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the morning assembly, Sotto addressed the city government employees, reporting the initiatives his administration has done to help put the city's economy back on track.

"Alam naman nating lahat na natamaan ang negosyo at pagnenegosyo nitong nakaraang pandemya. Dalawa’t kalahating taon na po tayong nandito. 2020 was the most difficult economic year in my lifetime and many of our lifetimes magmula World War 2. 2020 ang pinakamahirap na economic year para sa ating lahat (We all know that businesses have been severely affected during our two and a half years of enduring this pandemic. 2020 was the most difficult economic year in my lifetime and many of our lifetimes since World War 2. 2020 was the most difficult economic year for all of us)," Sotto said.

He said, however, that the city is now inching its way to recovery, slowly getting out of the pandemic.

Amid the pandemic, he said the city government did everything it can such as simplifying the processes, introducing new systems, and fighting corruption and red tape to improve ease of doing business in Pasig.

Sotto reported that Pasig City is seeing an increase of over 1,500 registered businesses. The revenue of its Business Processing and Licensing Office (BPLD) also increased from P3.4 billion in 2021 to P4.4 billion in 2022.
