Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto of Batangas City has called on her loyal fans, popularly known as Vilmanians, to support the new set of National Artists for 2022, including Nora Aunor.

Ate Vi sent a special message to her supporters in a private chat group after she was informed that many of them were sad that she was not included in this year's honorees.

Aunor and seven others were declared National Artists for 2022 last Friday, June 10.

Her message to her supporters on June 10:

"Hi Julie. Thank you for reaching out. Huwag na kayo maging malungkot. Naniniwala ako na sa mundong ito, if anything is meant to happen, it will find its way.

"And yes, there is always a time for everything.

"Maraming salamat sa inyo dearest Vilmanians sa patuloy at walang humpay ninyong pagsuporta sa akin. Mahal na mahal ko kayong lahat.

"Isang pagpupugay ang dapat natin ibigay sa ating bagong set of National Artists. Bawat isa sa kanila ay may angking galing at talino na lubos na kahanga-hanga. I sincerely congratulate all of them.

"Mabuhay kayo mga Vilmanians!"

The rivalry of Aunor and Santos reigned in Philippine showbiz in the 70s until the early 80s. While they have become friends over the years, the fandom of Santos and Aunor is unforgettable and exciting in the history of local cinema.

Aunor has been dubbed "Superstar" while Santos is known as "Star for all Seasons."
