Parañaque Mayor Olivarez shares his 'good governance' formula

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez has shared his formula of good governance which made the city debt-free.

Olivarez said the formula of his administration in making the city free from debt includes efficient collection of revenue and prudent spending, which enabled the city government to give better social and health services and pursue infrastructure projects.

He said that nine years ago, the city government only had less than P3-billion fund. The formula which he initiated increased their collections and was able to invite more investors.

The mayor said the city government also helped the investors in the city by giving them easy way to process their permits.

Olivarez also said the city government did not increase the real property taxes to ease the sufferings of property owners, commercial and industrial establishments that struggled to pay their taxes on time.

The mayor said that he had an initial meeting with the transition team headed by newly elected Mayor Eric Olivarez and City Treasurers Office head Dr. Anthony Pulmano last week.

Olivarez said that Pulmano had told them that the city government has a total P6-billion fund which the new team headed by his brother, Eric, can use to continue the projects and services for the city residents.
