Chiang Kai Shek College appoints Judelio Yap as new President

The Board of Trustees of Chiang Kai Shek College has appointed Mr. Judelio Yap as the school's new President, effective May 16, 2022.

Judelio Yap, President of Chiang Kai Shek College

Over the last 32 years, Mr. Yap has served the alma mater in various capacities, such as Vice-President for External Linkages and Alumni Affairs, Director for Student Life, Director for Administrative Affairs, College Registrar, Dean of Student Services, Assistant to the Director for General Affairs, Accounting Program Coordinator, and Scout Coordinator, among others.

Sir Jude, as he is fondly called, is a CKSian alumnus from High School Class of 1983 (Gruppo) and College Class of 1987, where he graduated Cum Laude with the degree Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Major in Accounting. A Certified Public Accountant and a Board of Accountancy accredited professor, he earned his Master of Business Administration degree from De La Salle University in 2000. He has completed all the academic units required leading to the degree of  Doctor of Philosophy in Development Administration and is working on his dissertation.

In the Chinoy community, he currently serves as one of the chairmen of the Association of Chinese-Filipino Schools in the Philippines Incorporated, and director of both the Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation and the Philippine Yap Fraternity Association.

Sir Jude is also involved in Scouting, serving as a Leader Trainer for the Philippine Boy Scouts and a director of the Chinese Filipino Scout Club, Incorporated. He has led Philippine contingents to more than 20 international scout gatherings and jamborees over the previous four decades, representing the country in key international service team designations at four World Jamborees held in Thailand, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and the United States of America.

In 1997, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines honored him with the "Ten Outstanding Scoutmasters of the Philippines" title, and in 2021, he received the Gold Tamaraw Award, the highest adult leadership award. In 1999, the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency recognized him with the "Outstanding Achievement Award in Volunteerism" for his contributions to the community and the nation. Under his guidance, CKSC has become a recognized model in the field of Scouting not only in our country but across the Asia-Pacific region.

Believing that learners must be well-rounded, he leads by example, being an athlete himself. He holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu with the Kamphuis Fabricio International Team. He has participated in and won awards in international competitions held in Japan, Spain, China, and the Philippines. Despite being in his 50's, he continues to challenge himself by joining obstacle course races such as Spartan Race, where he has performed creditably in his age group. He always emphasized that "a sharp mind and a strong body make us productive CKSian members of society."

The whole CKS College community wishes only the best for President Yap as he leads the school higher, brighter, and stronger in the years to come.
