Two die, one injured as jeep falls into 10-meter ravine in Benguet

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Two students were reported killed, while another was seriously injured after the vehicle they were riding on fell into a ravine on Wednesday morning, June 8, in Barangay Bahong, La Trinidad, Benguet.

The fatalities were identified as Cedric Batil Wasit, 25, driver, and Rolly Quintino, 24, both of Barangay Palew Tublay, Benguet, while the injured was Alzemier Anton Menes, 24, also a resident of the said area.

Based on the initial investigation by the traffic division of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, the victims were coming from Poblacion, La Trinidad and heading for Upper Tomay their vehicle driven by Wasit suddenly crossed the road and hit the road barrier then fell into a 10-meter deep ravine at around 1:30 in the morning.

Police and Bureau of Fire and Protection personnel responded and rushed the victims to the Benguet General Hospital, but Wasit and Quintino were declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Lizelle Refuerzo, while Menes is being treated for his wounds.
