BOC confiscates P10M worth of smuggled cigarettes in Bataan raid


Agents of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Port of Limay seized some P10 million worth of smuggled cigarettes.

The operation was carried out through a Letter of Authority from Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero on the alleged presence of smuggled items in a store and a resort in Barangay San Vicente, Orion, Bataan.

During the operation, seized were 487 master cases of smuggled cigarettes with an estimated value of P10 million.

The items were secured and brought to the BOC Office for safekeeping.

The BOC is now preparing a case of violation of of Section 1401of RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) against those responsible for the smuggling.
