In a statement, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - MIMAROPA said that the initiative is part of their “Digitalization of Business Processes of Selected MSMEs” Project.

It added that the digitalization project aims to assist MIMAROPA MSMEs in improving their business operations and addressing customer needs through use of digital technology solutions. One of the main components of the project includes the development of inventory and logistics management systems for enterprises. The information systems are being developed in collaboration with MIMAROPA State University and Colleges (SUCs).

"WIMLMS is an automated inventory and order management tool developed by Palawan State University which aims to monitor the movement of finished products with real-time dashboard; and track the daily transactions of the business from production facility to the branches/customers," DOST-MIMAROPA said.

The three pilot beneficiaries, namely: Palawan Adventist Health Products, Le Dessert Cakes and Pastries, and St. Ives Bakeshop who were also assisted by DOST-MIMAROPA through the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) are now ready to integrate WIMLMS in their respective businesses.

DOST-MIMAROPA also announced that with this development, interested MSMEs in the region can now avail of this digital management tool.

“We are grateful sa aming partnership with the DOST. Napakalaking tulong ang digitalization ng inventory para mas madali malaman ang kulang sa mga supply (Digitalization of the inventory is a big help to us so we can easily determine the lack of supply)," Marijoe Pialago, president of Palawan Adventist Hospital/Palawan Adventist Health Products said. Palawan Adventist Health Products was assisted through SETUP in 2015.

Le Dessert Cakes and Pastries owner, Romelisa Bernardo expressed her gratitude to DOST for helping her increase productivity and paved the way for the expansion of her business. Le Dessert was assisted by DOST-MIMAROPA in 2016 through SETUP. Likewise, St. Ives Bakeshop, which has been assisted by DOST since 2018, was thankful for the various S&T assistance provided to them since 2018.

The turnover ceremony was attended by DOST-MIMAROPA Regional Director Dr. Ma. Josefina P. Abilay, the president of PSU Dr. Ramon Docto, Chair-designate of the PSU Board of Regents CHED Commissioner Dr. Jo Mark Libre, the beneficiaries, and the PSU ICT Team who developed the system.
