Olivarez hails PADAC for a job well done

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez congratulated the Parañaque Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) Diagnostic and Holding for a job well done in their efforts at drug intervention and prevention.

Olivarez said 15 out of the 16 barangays in the city were already declared drug-free by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

He said Christian Buhay, officer-in-charge of PADAC Diagnostic and Holding Facility, reported during the regular Monday virtual flag raising ceremony that they conducted drug anti-prevention activity though education, outreach program and awareness to students, youths, and parents in the community on the effects of drugs.

The mayor said the group's anti-drug prevention action helped in making 15 communities in the city drug-free.

Buhay, in his report, said their holding facility works 24/7 and caters to drug users or pushers who voluntary surrender and need psychological and social intervention.

He said 25 patients confined at their holding facility called Bahay Silungan during the Covid-19 pandemic were given first and second dose vaccination against the disease through the help of Ospital ng Parañaque under Dr. Jefferson Pagsisihan, the hospital's medical director.

Buhay added that this year, nine of their patients were referred to Taguig City rehabilitation center, five to Cavite, and five to Nueva Ecija as they need further intervention and treatment.

He thanked the administration of Olivarez for providing a job to one of the patients in construction while four others were made beneficiaries of the TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay Sa Ating Disadavantaged and Displaced workers) program.
