Number of MRT-3 trains operating rises to 55- DOTr


The number of trains cars operating at the Metro Rail Transit-3 is now 55 after a massive overhauling that is part of the rehabilitation program of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

In a statement, the DOTR said there are only 17 trains that are still being overhauled.

The increase in the number of MRT-3 trains operations is expected to accommodate more passengers and prevent delays in the travel time. Each of the train car can accommodte up to 394 passengers.

"Part of the overhauling is the replacement of defective and old parts of train cars, painting job ands test runs.

The increase in the number of trains operating came as the MRT-3 has extended the free ride until June 30.

The free train ride was first implemented on April 30 to celebrate the success in the rehabilitation of MRT-3.
